Research experience:

Baoping Cai is the associate professor/ PhD student supervisor of China University of Petroleum, the “Hong Kong Scholar” visiting researcher of City University of Hong Kong, and the visiting researcher of Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is the director of experimental teaching center of mechanical engineering of China University of Petroleum.

He has published more than 100 journal and conference papers, and more than 60 papers are indexed by SCI, such as IEEE transactions on power electronics, Reliability engineering & system safety, Applied energy, Risk analysis, etc. He has granted 40 China patents and 4 international patent. He has published 4 monographs. In addition, he has finished 11 projects as PI, such as the national natural science foundation of China, the national high technology research and development program of China (863 Program), etc.

He is the associate editor of IEEE Access and Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences (SCI journal), the editorial board member of 3 journals, such as Open journal of safety science and technology, Automation control and intelligent systems, etc., and the lead guest editor of Chinese journal of engineering. He has served as the general chair of 1 international conference, the session chair of 3 international conferences, and the TPC member of over 10 international conferences.

His research interests include reliability engineering, fault diagnosis, risk analysis, and Bayesian networks methodology and application. In the past several years, his group developed a high-reliability control system for 3000 m subsea blowout preventer stack for China National Offshore Oil Corp., and proposed a series reliability evaluation approaches for subsea equipment. Now, he is working on the Bayesian-network-based fault detection and diagnosis methodology and has developed two diagnosis systems for subsea blowout preventer and subsea Christmas tree system.
